Dr. Yusainy initiated a research group working on behavioural studies using experimental designs and big data surveys (www.placeboresearchgroup.org). In addition to supervising more than 100 undergraduate students from her internal department, she also became a co-promotor for doctoral students at the Sociology Department and Civil Engineering Department Universitas Brawijaya as well as at the Behavioural Science Institute Radboud University Nijmegen. The clustered themes of her supervision deal with the topic of emotion-affect, particularly in terms of the dynamics of mindfulness.

Although psychological research in Indonesia is typically conducted using traditional self-reported surveys, Dr. Yusainy has consistently reintroduced controlled laboratory experiments and incorporated other technology-based research into her work. Her collaborators now include researchers from more than 80 universities across the world as well as diverse local mindfulness-based communities. She received the Association for Psychological Science (APS) Fund for Technology and Websites (in 2019) and for Teaching and Public Understanding of Psychological Science (in 2017) for her public education initiatives.
